 The Activities of the 1990s

As Wesleyan Drive Baptist Church continued to grow, the church found itself in the need of more space once again. On Sunday morning, April 22, 1990 the church body unanimously accepted the recommendation of the building committee to erect a new educational building. During Homecoming services two weeks later, the church held a ground-breaking ceremony. Mrs. Elvie Amsterdam, representing the older church members, and Daniel Evers, representing the younger church members, turned the first shovels of dirt. The building committee consisted of Mr. Bob Lunsford as Chairman, Mr. Mike Parker as Architect, Mr. James Morton, Mrs. Danny Padgett, and Mr. Emil Turk. Most of the building was completed in October that year, and the church celebrated with a fellowship in the large new fellowship hall and kitchen. The rear of the building was left unfinished for later expansion. The building was fully finished in 1996.
